All That Glitters Website and Info Changes for February 2016!

Here are the changes on the All That Glitters Website for February 2016:

This Month's Special:  3.57ct Gold Yellow Chrysoberyl Oval!
To commemorate our new Chrysoberyl Page and feature this relatively unknown gemstone (at least from the public's perspective), this Monthly Special is a Chrysoberyl - a savings of $179.  Chrysoberyl is a very hard gemstone and is undervalued for what it is.  The best known example of Chrysoberyl is the color changing variety, which we all know as Alexandrite!

This Month's Gem News:  World's largest blue star sapphire 'found in Sri Lanka'
Gemologists in Sri Lanka claim that the largest blue star sapphire yet has been discovered in a mine in the country.... Read More.

Newly Faceted or Photographed Gemstones:
Alexandrite, Alexandrite Cat's Eye, Pink Scapolite from Burma that fluoresces, a Grossular Garnet that also fluoresces, Ruby and Sapphire, including Fancy Multi-Colored Sapphire and Padparadschas, unique one of a kind Opals, many Star Sapphires, Blue Moonstones, various colored Spinels, a carved Iolite Chameleon, neon Apatite, Green Sphene, Tsavorite, Aquamarine, a fancy kite-shaped Tanzanite, Demantoid Garnet, Chrysoberyl,  Cat's Eye Chrysoberyl, a Diamond Crystal (2.8+cts) with a flower-like Hydrogen Cloud, as well as Blue, Yellow and Green Zircon!  Note that the Blue Moonstone and  Red Garnet have not been photographed as of yet and hopefully will be available upon our return from Tucson in mid-February.  (The Blue Sheen of the Moonstone and true red color of the Garnet is extremely difficult to capture).

Gemstones in Cutting:
One Color Changing Diaspore is being Concave faceted, and two others will be carved/sculpted.
One final piece of Sunstone (Oregon) rough is currently in the possession of our carver/sculptor.  This last piece has HEAVY LARGE Schiller!
Three gemstones have recently returned from our cutter - a Wonderful Ametrine, a 5+ct Ouro Preto Topaz which has gotten many comments/compliments after being posted on Facebook, and a nice blue with some green 3+ct Nuristani Tourmaline (very old rough in our inventory).  All are Concave Faceted - producing not only beautiful but interesting pieces.

New Link/Page - Chrysoberyl:
We now have sufficient inventory of Chrysoberyl (various yellows, cat's eyes, Alexandrite, a specimen etc.) to create a separate page for Chrysoberyl.  We have also decided to offer a Chrysoberyl gemstone for this Month's Special to commemorate this new page!

New Link/Page - Star Sapphire:
With a large purchase of Star Sapphire recently, we have created this new page which may be found under the Sapphire category in the left hand navigation column, or as a link at the bottom of every Sapphire page.

New Link/Page - Tribute to Stephen Kotlowski, Supreme Master Gemcutter:
We added a new link/page at the very bottom of the left hand navigation column dedicated to our friend/master cutter, Stephen Kotlowski, who passed away unexpectedly in October 2015.  There is information on Stephen, as well as various photos, and approximately 50 images of gemstones that Stephen either faceted from All That Glitters rough or re-cut from previously faceted gemstone purchases.  This represents all of our gemstones faceted by Stephen that are currently available for sale; a few that have recently sold.  This is an unexpected premature ending to the legacy of an experienced cutter who continued to amaze the gemstone community with his talents.

More All That Glitters Gemstones to be Studied at GIA:
GIA has requested several more gemstones in the All That Glitters inventory to be brought to Tucson for
discussion among the lab personal to see if they will be brought back to GIA in Carlsbad for study and possible
future publication in Gems and Gemology Magazine.
