All That Glitters Website and Info Changes for December 2023!

In conversations with some of our customers as well as others, most feel they don’t know where the year went.

Not many days until we enter 2024…

Here are the changes on the All That Glitters Website for December 2023:

Newly Faceted or Newly Photographed Gemstones:

We have done attempted to rephotograph some fine gemstones, and also created a few associated videos.  There are a large number of photos taken with older cameras which are outdated, but there are so many and it does take a considerable amount of time to do photography correctly, that there is just not enough time.  A few gemstones have been updated with respect to text, photos and videos and they include:

Just under 3ct Precious Topaz from Ouro Preto – Exactly where you want your Topaz to originate; and an 8x10 easily set into jewelry!

Fancy Cut Green Tanzanite Faceted by an Award Winning Cutter – his work is in museums!

Our Largest Tanzanite - a 24.97ct Certed Deep Glowing Blue Oval (believe to be UNHEATED!)

10+ct Neon (Paraiba-Like) Blue Apatite

An 11.70ct Blue Flash Congo Amethyst was completed – a deep rich purple with some Blue Flashes depending on available lights.  This piece was faceted by the owner of All That Glitters – two other previously faceted gems include a Fancy Oval Lab Grown Alexandrite, weighing  26.50ct  and a nice 17+ct  Oval Chrome YAG.

A Tsavorite Oval is up for sale after about 37 years – it was in a heavy custom created ring for the owner of All That Glitters, and the ring was melted down a short time ago.

Gemstones in Cutting:

On the dop currently in the All That Glitters office for cutting, a Blue Flash Amethyst which will be a similar shape that some people have seen in a Clear Danburite we faceted in the past.  Unknown timeframe of completion, as we will be out of the country for about a week and faceting can be a long laborious event.

(The Oregon Sunstone described below has been placed aside for a future date of completion)

In the All That Glitters Cutting Room, we have an Oregon Sunstone in works – the shape is a kite and we hope to complete it within another month.  Color is expected to be a light yellow perhaps with a hint of green, but one never knows until the gemstone is removed from the dop and cleaned up – AND, depending on the lights and wavelengths available, color can change slightly or dramatically depending on the rough…  We have what we believe is a similar gemstone of this material faceted by us in our Elegante Cut, and that is a very light yellow or perhaps described as being a Vaseline color, a nice neutral color that goes with everything – visit our Sunstone page to see that special cutting design and beautiful gem.

There is very little new rough presently and we already have representations faceted from that rough, including:  Blue Flash Amethyst, Blended Ametrine, Tourmaline, Color Change Diaspore, Yellow Beryl, Color Change Garnet, Umbalite and Rhodolite Garnet, Oregon Sunstone, Synthetic Alexandrite and others….

What Has All That Glitters Been Involved in Recently?:

We have delivered a Aquamarine/Diamond Pendant on a Round Wheat Chain – photos to be published in the future.

Working on an Ouro Preto Yellow/Gold Topaz Pendant with a solitary diamond, as well as a round lab grown Alexandrite

(faceted by the owner of All That Glitters) to be set in Rose gold where the accent gemstones are Moonstone!  This Rose Gold, Lab Alex with Moonstones was designed/conceived by the future owner through the All That Glitters Jewelers Showcase – see information and link further below.  Stay tuned for photos of this ring once completed in December.

A Blue Flash Amethyst is in faceting in the All That Glitters Cutting Room.

A Purple Mozambique Tourmaline will be shipped to a customer in December and an All That Glitters customer (of perhaps about 35 or so years) has purchased one of our Hand Grooved Blended Ametrines (which comes with a piece of Ametrine Rough); this will be added to her fine gemstone collection.  This is her first concave or hand grooved gemstone in her collection.  This material certainly is unique and has quite the following in some circles.  We have Custom Cut Hand-Grooved Gems in Ametrine, Tourmaline, Oregon Sunstone and Color Changing Turkish Diaspore.

Far more to discuss and we might make some reference to these in future monthly emails.
