Five Oregon Sunstones back from one of our U.S. Cutters…

We have attempted to obtain decent photos and videos of 3 Montana Sapphires – we have found Sapphires from this location to be difficult to obtain accurate color, show the brilliance, etc.  They frequently color shift a bit depending on the lights.  We are not satisfied with the stills or the videos, but thought we would post them for the time being.  We have posted 2 ovals and 1 round.  Really nice material in person, eye clean, well cut, good colors and well priced!

                                                                    

Gemstones in Cutting:

In our four days of digging in the high deserts of Oregon, we didn’t find any high end Sunstone, so we were forced to make a few purchases.  We had the good fortune to acquire Oregon Sunstone, hand-picked directly from the claim owners recently mined personal stock.  Five pieces have come back from one of our cutters and are available on our Newly Photographed page.  Three pieces are being hand-grooved – one of these has been completed, and the other two are expected in the future.  Delays related to travel, health issues, faceting machine parts on order and a death in the family, have moved the expected timeframe of completion out into September.
