Gemstones in
Cutting:
Currently have about 22 pieces of
rough in the hands of one of our Specialty Facetors and we are expecting about
25 pieces to be returned in about a month or so. A few pieces will be cut in half and it is
possible that one piece, due to the size/weight (LuAl Lab Garnet) will not only
be cut in two to create smaller/lighter gems, but a pair might be created for
earrings for someone who is potentially waiting in the wings for this piece of
rough to be faceted.
Of these pieces currently in cutting,
we have:
Ametrine, High Quality Oregon
Sunstone, 7 pieces of Blue Flash Amethyst (the last of our rough and it is
no longer available to obtain from this locality), Lab Grown Alexandrite,
LuAl Garnet (Lab), and two pieces of Brandy Colored Ukranian Topaz. We are very excited about this Topaz because
the color is special, these will be large pieces, this comes from a famous
deposit where the Topaz can grow as a Bi-Color Topaz – naturally occurring Blue
Topaz and this Brandy Color together in one crystal. You can sometimes see this on the market
faceted as bi-color gemstone, but in
order to have decent saturation in the color, they typically have to be larger
gems. Very interesting and a collectors
gem for those in the know. In the case
of these pieces, the rough was removed from the brandy colored section of the
rough.
There is very little new rough
presently and we already have representations faceted from that rough,
including: Blue Flash Amethyst, Blended Ametrine, Tourmaline, Color
Change Diaspore, Yellow Beryl, Color Change Garnet, Umbalite and Rhodolite Garnet,
Oregon Sunstone, Synthetic Alexandrite and others….
What Else is New on the
All That Glitters Website?:
We have added two more payment methods
for our customers: Zelle and Cashpay
(Cashpay will be an option in Square,
as well as credit cards and ACH)
New Page Added to our
Learn More Page:
We wanted to share the page regarding
lectures/discussions at the Tucson 2024 Gem and Mineral Show this year, which
contained important Trade Info that we thought All That Customers would find
interesting/insightful. This was March’s
Monthly Gem News. Therefore, we have
made it a permanent page on our Learn More page
https://www.atggems.com/Learn_More.htm
What Has All That
Glitters Been Involved in Recently?:
We have been quite busy logging the
newly arrived faceted gems into our database, doing photos and some videos,
creating tables/html code, calculating yield/costs/pricing, uploading all to
our website server. Also, weighing,
photographing and documenting what is in the new parcel sent to our
cutter. Lots of work related to creating
the label, doing paperwork, packaging and visiting the post office – as we are
mandated to have the package scanned in order for the insurance for this high
value package to be valid. Sales this
year have been pretty strong from the public, collectors and the trade in
general.
