All That Glitters Website and Info Changes for December 2024!

We are entering the last month of 2024 – where did the year go?....

We are back from traveling from the North of Morocco down to the South – starting in Tangiers and ending up in Marrakesh.

Saw fossils, mineral specimens including crystals and even some amethyst geodes with calcite crystals, but nothing large or of high quality.  We believe the special Amethyst find where some of our unique Amethyst with Enhydros or the Tricolor Quartz (Amethyst/Clear/Amethyst) is in the Atlas Mountains and though we did see the various Atlas Mountain Ranges and drove through parts of them, did not see any of the fine Amethyst this area can produce.

This Month's Special:   Two Beautiful Agate Slices, One Large and One Small – both at ONE Very Good Price!

This Month’s Gem News:  $10M Blue Diamond Leads Christie's Hong Kong Sale

The anticipated Christie’s auction that highlighted two jewels featuring colored diamonds in its Hong Kong jewelry sale, including a blue-diamond ring estimated to bring in up to HKD 80 million ($10 million), has now concluded.  You can read about the anticipated sale and also review the auction prices – this was an incredible and important auction for fine colored gemstone and diamond jewelry!

Newly Faceted or Newly Photographed Gemstones:

We have added one new item to inventory and that is a Fossilized Shell Conglomerate Bowl/Serving Dish from Morocco, which of course, has an interesting story – we can usually provide the background and history to most of the All That Glitters Inventory, as most items have a story!

After selling an Opal which was located in a parcel containing a few opals to a local goldsmith, we noticed that two of the Opals had never been photographed and put onto the All That Glitters website.  We have corrected this, so two newly photographed Opals are now available!

A decent number of newly faceted gemstones from our rough returned in late August from one of our specialty cutters and can be found on our Newly Photographed Page!

Gemstones in Cutting:

Nothing new in cutting.  We might be selling our existing and last rough to the trade/cutters or perhaps cutting some of it and releasing it at ridiculously low prices – but then again, our prices is a fraction of retail prices seen out there.

With the exception of one piece of rough, our Blue Flash Amethyst will not be replaced when the last has been sold.   Not only is this material not being found, but the price has gone increased like many other rough and faceted gemstones, not to mention the cost of fine cutting.  Other than one piece of this Blue Flash Amethyst Rough, we no longer have any more of this material.

Recently back from Cutting!  View 25 newly photographed gemstones from our rough in the very near future – this includes:

Ametrine, High Quality Oregon Sunstone (large ones too!), 6 pieces of Blue Flash Amethyst (the last of our rough and it is no longer available to obtain from this locality), Lab Grown Alexandrite, LuAl Garnet (Lab grown – sorry, these have been sold!), and two pieces of Brandy Colored Ukrainian Topaz.  We are very excited about this Topaz because the color is special.  These pieces come from a famous deposit where the Topaz can grow as a Bi-Color Topaz – naturally occurring light Blue Topaz and this unique Brandy Color together in one crystal.  You can sometimes see this on the market faceted as bi-color gemstones, but in order to have decent color saturation, they typically have to be larger gems.  Very interesting color and locality and a collectors gem for those in the know; or for those who don’t know about this deposit and these gems, one will see a beautiful brilliant brandy colored Topaz!  In the case of these pieces, the rough was trimmed from the brandy colored section of the rough and might not have had any light blue at all in the rough; perhaps the blue part if it existed, had inclusions.

There is very little new rough presently and we already have representations faceted from that rough, including:  Blue Flash Amethyst, Blended Ametrine, Tourmaline, Color Change Diaspore, Yellow Beryl, Color Change Garnet, Umbalite and Rhodolite Garnet, Oregon Sunstone, Synthetic Alexandrite and others….
