Approx 16ct Grooved Ametrine – better photos to be posted when returned from cutter

Large 5cm x 5cm x5cm Meteorite Cube with wonderful natural etchings (Sweden). Weighs just under 1 kilo(2.25lbs)  Priced to Move.  View professional photo of this beauty.

30.30ct Ametrine in an incredible pattern and shape, getting over 2000 likes in only 2 days online!

Ametrines finished by two different cutters (from our special rough!) and they include:

   32+ct Cut in attractive design called the Stone Saver

   Almost 26ct Checker Board Oval

   30.30ct Kite-like shape with both flat faceting and grooving! (again posted by others and tons of likes!)

A Blue Flash Amethyst in a Diamond Shape weighing 15.97cts, as well as a 13.92ct Shield.

Two faceted gems from one of our newest and youngest cutter:  4+ct Spear Shaped African Garnet and a Kite Shaped Blue Flash Amethyst weighing 16.16cts.

Three beautiful pieces of included quartz, with green star-like crystal formations – some of these seem to have been dusted with another white and beige mineral!  (priced to move as a group – they are all different and fascinating).  Priced to move out to the collector or someone who would like to make jewelry…

Gemstones in Cutting:

Two more Ametrines are currently in queue to be faceted.  Due to issues on the cutters side, completion is delayed.

We have two large 100ct Oregon Sunstones that will be carved and/or cut by the multi-award winning cutter, Dalan Hargrave.  Dalan has reached out to us recently to indicate his thoughts on how he would approach the cutting of each piece, and we hope that these pieces will be as beautiful as his past pieces – many destined to be in major collections and museums.  We gave him the thumbs up to begin working his magic, and some of his pieces are indeed magical!  We are currently awaiting the results.  So far, it is a year, but these things take time.  Again, no progress this month – his queue is backed up and apparently there is about a year plus wait….

All That Glitters to Visit/Work Sapphire Claim in Montana:

Back from Montana and the sad news is that really nothing was found.  With the work that went into it, as well as the money for travel/staying in the area, it was all for naught.  That is the life of a miner – usually a bust, but sometimes a bonanza.  Only 2% of the rough found in most mines can be utilized in jewelry.  Of that, some of it can be carved, some cabbed and very few is really facet grade.  So when one does find a nice piece of rough and it gets to market as a decent sized gemstone that is eye clean, other than material such as quartz and topaz, that would be a nice gem and rare for the most part.  By the way, for a mine run of material which lasts for about 4 hours, the cost of the diesel to run the equipment was running $400 or so – it does cost a lot to perform mechanized mining; manual labor/artisanal mining is back breaking and frequently there is nothing to show for it after many hours/days/weeks.  We did both, btw!

If any of our customers would like to provide information regarding likes and dislikes on our website, we will insure that we don’t change things that are positive, and will consider making changes to improve our customers visits if possible.

PayPal Change in Policy:

As of mid-October, PayPal has announced that it will not refund fees to businesses on returned items.  In discussions with other dealers and businessmen, these fees will have to be passed onto customers who return items.  Very few All That Glitters customers will be affected, as we have had very few returns in the past 40 years, but we wanted to insure that people know of these new fees that the customer must bear due to the actions of PayPal.  There are ways around this if you feel an item may be returned – Certified Bank Checks, Wire Transfers, use of other apps such as Transferwise, Popmoney and others.  We are open to signing up for some applications if customers request it – Read more about PayPals unfortunate decision under our Policies/Payment link or for the time being, on our main page, center column at the bottom.
