All That Glitters Website and Info Changes for August 2014!
Here are the changes to look for on the All That Glitters Website for August 2014!:
This Month's Special: Multiple Gemstone Monthly Special!
A
nice Golden Yellow Marquise Sapphire over 3/4ct (84pts) for just over $500!
This Month's Gem News: GIA Team Interviews
Heitor Barbosa, First Discoverer of ParaĆba Tourmaline
From
March 31 to April 17, a team of field researchers from GIA (Gemological
Institute of America) journeyed to the most important gemstone mining areas in
Brazil to gather information and document the current state of colored stone
mines...
Newly Faceted or Photographed Gemstones:
A
large Star Sapphire (almost 6cts) is currently being certed; has a great sharp
star and is multi-colored. This is a unique gem for either a man/woman's
jewelry piece; great for a collection because of the colors one sees!
Upon
a request from one of our customers interested in Diaspore, we re-photographed
a few of our smaller gems and have posted those photos. She did make a purchase and we are awaiting
it's arrival/approval by the customer.
It is also possible we will design a custom ring for this Diaspore.
Old
inventory that hasn't been seen for over 10-30 years has been pulled from the
vault and photographed. This includes a small parcel of Natural Sapphire
which has been recrystallized so that very fine stars have been created.
This material was certed by GIA in the past and though we didn't request a cert
from GIA, we did see the cert. These 4 Sapphire cabs have very fine stars
and would be very costly if entirely natural. Priced to move.
A
very nice bright yellow/gold Square Tourmaline is now available as well as a
newly faceted gemstone (by the owner of All That Glitters) appears on our Newly
Photographed Gemstone Page - a 17+ct Square Topaz. A related 20+ct Square
Topaz from the same piece of rough is also available; this is slightly darker
and like the one above, the color is best under lower light levels and also
seems to color shift depending on the lights.
Both are very large gemstones, well faceted, clean and at a low price
when one considers the size and cutting.
There is a possibility of a trip
back to Burma, Thailand, Sri Lanka and that part of the world. Prices have been climbing constantly, so
expect higher prices on new gemstones, but pricing will still continue to be
way below retail prices and more in the wholesale range or even below.
Gemstones in Cutting:
We will have some more Opal
available possibly in late September. No
other gemstones are currently being faceted.
