Newly Faceted or Newly Photographed Gemstones: 

All That Glitters Rough sent to one of our Specialty Facetors is back and includes:

Five Ametrines, one very large elongated oval, one standard flat faceted and three of which are unique in cutting style!  (Two of these unique cutting styles has been sold)

Four Oregon Sunstones – all very different in color, some with schiller and in design (Two have been sold)

One Lab Grown Round Alexandrite – full of life and various flashes of color!

LuAl Lab Grown Garnet – You’ve never seen a gemstone glow like this…Literally!  (Sold)

Two Blue Flash Amethysts – Not many of these are seen in the market.

Two Color Shifting African Garnets (Ruby Red, Magenta and Burgundy depending on lights)

(These two beauties have been sold and all these recently sold gemstones have been purchased by stores/goldsmiths!)

…And lots more recently added since the beginning of the year, including some important rings!

Gemstones in Cutting:  

NOTE – gemstones in cutting described below should be received back from our specialty cutter in a few weeks and after photography and html code generation, be available for sale – so keep checking back.  We do anticipate having these described and available in our August Monthly Email – but for those who can’t wait, check out our Newly Photographed page in a few weeks or send us an email to obtain an update!

Faceting has begun on about 22 pieces of rough in the hands of one of our Specialty Facetors and we are expecting about 25 pieces to be returned in perhaps about two months.  A few pieces will be cut in half.   Of these pieces currently in cutting, we have:

Ametrine, High Quality Oregon Sunstone, 7 pieces of Blue Flash Amethyst (the last of our rough and it is no longer available to obtain from this locality), Lab Grown Alexandrite, LuAl Garnet (Lab), and two pieces of Brandy Colored Ukranian Topaz.  We are very excited about this Topaz because the color is special - these will be large pieces.  These pieces come from a famous deposit where the Topaz can grow as a Bi-Color Topaz – naturally occurring light Blue Topaz and this unique Brandy Color together in one crystal.  You can sometimes see this on the market faceted as bi-color gemstones, but in order to have decent color saturation, they typically have to be larger gems.  Very interesting color and locality and a collectors gem for those in the know; or for those who don’t know about this deposit and these gems, one will see a beautiful brilliant brandy colored Topaz!  In the case of these pieces, the rough was trimmed from the brandy colored section of the rough and might not have had any light blue at all in the rough; perhaps the blue part if it existed, had inclusions. 

There is very little new rough presently and we already have representations faceted from that rough, including:  Blue Flash Amethyst, Blended Ametrine, Tourmaline, Color Change Diaspore, Yellow Beryl, Color Change Garnet, Umbalite and Rhodolite Garnet, Oregon Sunstone, Synthetic Alexandrite and others….

 

What Else is New on the All That Glitters Website?:

We have added two more payment methods for our customers:  Zelle and Cashpay

(Cashpay will be an option in Square, as well as credit cards and ACH)

 

What Has All That Glitters Been Involved in Recently?:

The All That Glitters website uses a laptop heavily for working with photos, creating html code and tables, verifying that web pages will display properly, etc.  After 7 years, we have updated the previous laptop with a new one.  Back in 2017 with the purchase of a new laptop then, finding a laptop that had CD/DVD capabilities for reading as well as writing, wasn’t easy.  Now it is impossible as the technology has gone to the cloud.  We will be using an external drive to backup files, photos, etc. as we don’t believe in having certain things out of our control and elsewhere where it could possibly be accessed or hacked.
