All That Glitters Website and Info Changes for May 2026!

Can’t Believe it is May Already – but we got through another winter…

Here are the changes on the All That Glitters Website for May 2026:

This Month’s Special:    10% OFF ANY Moonstone

Would love to do even better in pricing, but our cost is at approximately wholesale already if not below wholesale as seen in Tucson over the past few years.  Bought directly while doing business in Sri Lanka in the past – like most of our inventory, there is good value here, especially if you have been seeking Fine Moonstone…

Trip to the Turkey – April 2026!:

Color Change Diaspore (also called – Zultanite, Czarite, Ottomanite and Turkizite) was supposedly seen in stores, as there were typically signs indicating that they had Zultanite, but what they had wasn’t Zultanite/Color Changing Turkish Diaspore!   They are selling something that appeared to be doped glass or some sort of synthetic.  Both the small and large gems weren’t the right color nor were they displaying it property to show the color change (utilizing incandescent or fluorescent lights) – they were using lights with colored filters, which colored the gems as well as anything underneath them.  SO…we can’t make a long story short here, but will probably mention all of this in next months news….

Gemstones in Cutting:

We are expecting to facet a Zircon in the future, in a cushion shape if we continue to go with that shape.

  • Ran into issues with the diagonal keel line on the Zircon so this was put aside for the future.

We are currently faceting a LuAG YAG, that Lab Grown (Ce:LuAG, lutetium aluminum garnet (Lu3Al5O12) doped with cerium) that glows like lime green radiator fluid – looks like it is radioactive!  We have several pieces of this costly rough and will be faceting gems over x number of months or even years perhaps, and will be selling some of the pieces to other facetors.  To quote a GIA article on this material – “This material was introduced to the optics industry in the late 1990s and acts as a scintillator, a fluorescent crystal that absorbs high-energy radiation such as X-rays or gamma rays and reemits them as lower-energy visible light that is much easier to detect.”  The shape is a fancy oval, in a design that we have used twice before because it is unique and real sparkler!

Contemplating on sending some rough to one of our specialty cutters, but working out the details.

There is very little new rough presently in our inventory in general and we already have representations faceted from that rough, including:  Blue Flash Amethyst, Blended Ametrine, Tourmaline, Color Change Diaspore, Yellow Beryl, Color Change Garnet, Umbalite and Rhodolite Garnet, Oregon Sunstone, Lab Grown Alexandrite and others….
